What happens if you are hospitalized

Our providers do not see patients while they are admitted to the hospital. Rather, you are cared for by a physician known as a hospitalist.

Just as internists who work in a primary care setting are experts in stable chronic disease management and preventive care, hospital-based physicians are specifically trained to manage and coordinate the care of complex, acutely ill patients.  The incorporation of hospitalist-based care has been shown to decrease hospital length of stay and cost of care while improving patient satisfaction.

Hospitalists work with nurses and other care providers in the hospital to deliver exceptional, efficient and compassionate medical care to patients, to communicate clearly with patients and their families, and to smoothly transition patients from the hospital back into their daily lives.

Our providers are readily available to consult with the inpatient team during the admission, and our dedicated nursing staff will call the patient within 24 hours of notification of discharge to ensure a safe transfer of care and schedule a post-hospital follow-up appointment within one week in the office.
